I don't know if I am crunchy or not.
Honestly, I don't even need a label to define why I
cloth diaper
nurse
and use a baby carrier and sling.
I do these things because they
help save us money
and
make life easier.
I got my first baby carrier just after Robi was born
from a kind soul in the States.
Mine is an Evenflo Snugli and I love it. It is a front and back-pack carrier, and the baby can face in or out. It has 3 pockets to carry personal items and is super-practical and comfortable.
I found it so much easier to navigate public transportation and go on walks with him in the baby carrier.
When I was pregnant with Andrej I decided I also wanted to try a sling, since my baby carrier is more for outdoor use.
My mom made me "The Sling" and brought it with her
I can use it from birth through toddlerhood (I could even put Robi in it, but he'd prefer I don't).
You can go here to view the various ways the sling can be used.
by the way - all my pictures were taken on my computer...so please excuse the bad lightening and fuzziness. Since I am the primary picture-taker in our home, it was the most practical way to do this.
So, while I know it is currently "faddish" to wear your baby
I simply find it practical.
I posted this in response to Adriel's - my fellow blogger and friend - series of posts on baby wearing. She is the author of The Mommyhood Memos and you can read her posts on babywearing here. They are so helpful in reviewing various slings and carriers and why many moms choose to wear their babies.
I am linking up today for her Babywearing Carnival

Hahaha I've been called "crunchy" before I even know what that meant just because I do these things too. I'm like, "Hello! Do you know how much better babies act when they're carried?!" Soooo much easier. Breastfeeding is the same, it just makes life so much easier. I think my label should just be "lazy" HAHA! ;)
Mama mi je sasila sling - mogu vidjeti gdje je nasla kroj. Jos uvjiek ga koristim - bolje mi je nego obicni nosiljak, jer je puno jednostavniji. :)
vidiš, mene jako bole leđa kad ga nosim u klokanici, a sling sam htjela sašiti ali me strah da i ne padne.
Seriously, I know. I brought my sling to the hospital when Andrej was hospitalized. It helped so much. He could either lay in his crib all day (he's 6 months old - so you know how well that turned out!) or carry him. The sling was my best friend!
Now that I'm a mum, I really hate labels too. I just do what i do because it 'works for me'. I think you can be forgiven for using the computer to take photos! I'm the primary photo taker in our house too so there's next to no photos of me! I should really utilise photo booth...
Thank you for visiting and commenting, Rachel. I like what you said - doing what works for you. That's what's key. :)
We're just moms that like to do things naturally. That sounds so much better than crunchy (which always makes me think of cockroaches, anyhow! lol!)
hahaha, well, i don't think i'm "crunchy" really, but i babywear, cloth diaper, and breastfeed too... so whatever. ;)
that's so nice of your mom to have made you a sling. looks like it's working really well!
thanks for linking up too!
