Change.
It's an idea that I find exciting and fun. But in reality it makes me crazy. And this week I've been a maniac!
The past decade-and-a-half has been nothing but change. Everything uprooted, turned on its head, shifting, changing...
But isn't that just life?
Life isn't static. It's constantly moving forward and we move forward with it, whether we want to or not. (Tweet That) It's the nature of life. No one can ever just stay where they are. Even couch potatoes and bums grow old and change - get grey hair and wrinkles.
And as I folded laundry yesterday recounting to God the list of changes in my life... Whining. Griping. Complaining...
God reminded me that
"Every good gift and perfect gift [house, kids, husband, friends...yes, I could go on and on] is from above, and comes down from the Father of Lights with whom there is no variableness or shadow of turning."
No shadow of turning. He doesn't change. He doesn't even appear to change.
He is constant.
When everything else in life changes, breaks, goes wrong, grows...grows old - He stays the same. (Tweet That)
And suddenly I realized how very foolish I had been.
Depending on things, kids, husband, people - stuff around me to give me the security that only God can give. Sure, in my mind I knew that it is foolish to do so - probably even blogged about it a time or two - but unknowingly I was hoping that all those things around me that I love and that love me would give me a sense of security and stability.
They failed me.
But God never has - He never will. (Tweet That)
And suddenly I found myself singing:
I need Thee every hour
Most gracious Lord
No tender voice like Thine
Can peace afford
I need Thee, O I need Thee
Every hour I need Thee
O bless me now my Savior
I come to Thee.

This was EXACTLY what I needed to read this morning, Roz. Thank you! :)
It's such a powerful thing to know that God is God eternal and never changing especially in our fast-paced world. I found your blog through Womanhood with Purpose (the link-up) and I found you had your own link-up and so I linked up ! I am grabbing your button to place on my blog.
Thanks for the powerful reminder from the Word of God and thanks for hosting this blog hop ! Have a very very beautiful day !

With all the political upheaval over here, Rosilind, or at least it feels like it, these words were so helpful today. Thanks, and thanks for your link-up!
Crazy! My daughter and I were singing this while I put groceries away and made lunch! This world seems to be falling apart these days...this song is very comforting to know that when we need Him he is always there. Very touching post! God Bless you
I love this post and that song! He is so gracious to remind us without scolding, too, isn't He?
You asked about pumpkin butter in the pumpkin cheesecake recipe on my blog and I put a quick recipe in a reply to your comment. Here's the link:

Blessings, and thank you for hosting this link party. in HIM, Gin
What a great reminder! When I was at church today, I noticed my pastor had changed the sign out front to: Give Thanks, Not for the Blessings You Received, But for the Blessings You Shared.

Isn't it such a beautiful and timeless hymn! It is one of my favorites!
He is so faithful to comfort and encourage us! I am hoping to make that pumpkin butter next week. I need to find a store with brown sugar. :)
What a great sign! I love that idea - something definitely to ponder!
