Are My Accounts Clear?

Only a few days remain of 2012 and it has me in deep reflection.

2012 was a very good year.

It brought a lot of joy

It brought a lot of pain

It brought intense laughter

and a lot of tears

We were amazed at the what the Lord has done for us

And we are more exhausted than we've ever been in our lives before

We've been touched by the kindness of friends

And sometimes disappointed, too.

And what is really on my heart today is the need to:

take the joy, laughter, amazement and kindness and let it find a home in my heart forever

but take the pain, tears, exhaustion, and disappointment and if I haven't let it go, release it.

As I began this holiday season, my deep desire was to experience it.  Intensely experience every part of it.  Live it. Feel it. And treasure it.

The New Year is a new start.

A new beginning.

Fresh.

Unmarred.

It's a year to start over.

Be renewed.

Refreshed.

Like freshly fallen snow with no footprints in it yet.

Except the footprints of Jesus.  He's been in my tomorrow.  He planned each day carefully.

Yes, 2013 will have it's share of joy and pain. Laughter and tears. Amazement and exhaustion. Kindness and disappointment. And each one will serve it's purpose in making me more like Him.

So, in these days leading up to a fresh start, a new beginning, want to make sure my 2012 accounts are clear.  That my heart is pure before the Lord - ready for what He wants to do in me in 2013!

Happy New Year!

Absolutely agree about the letting go. No need to carry the hurts over into a new year. Forgive and forget. And if you need to-forgive again.

Sounds good to me. A good time to reflect as there is a bit more time AFTER Christmas to do this. Thanks for the encouraging reminder. :-)

What if we did this for every new day? Just think how much lighter our loads would be to give the weary things of the past day up to Him. Blessings to you in your "new day"! Thanks for linking up!

Yes - I usually do a lot of reflecting after Christmas. :)

Carrying around these kind of loads grows so heavy and weary.

I love looking back and remembering when it's time to say goodbye to the year, don't you? Seeing things from a distance...puts it in perspective. And just as His mercies are new everyorning, I am so grateful for grace in the new year. A happy one to you, friend!

A year change can bring forth BIG changes in our nation, our towns, our family. BUT, in my sense, I tend to just focus on the possibilities that are coming down our path, whether a year changed or people changed. The PEOPLE make a huge difference. I'll bless the Lord for the New Year, but I'll bless HIM even MORE for the PEOPLE in our lives.

I really liked this post. Many of us make goals for the new year as it comes in but not-so-many think of purifying their heart so it is clear for what lies ahead. Thank you!!

I always am blessed by the posts you share on WholeHearted Home each week. See you tomorrow!!

Yes - it's all about people...in our intimate circles and in a wider sense.
